Great Tips to Avoid Hurting Your Back

!±8± Great Tips to Avoid Hurting Your Back

Anyone who has ever experienced back pain, knows how hard we want to deal with on a daily basis. With that being said, there are a number of ways on how to prevent problems associated with back pain. Many of these are:

* When you sit at a desk for several hours at a time, trying to get up every so often, along with stretching.

* Wear shoes with high heals or an inch or less.

* Sit on a chair where the back is straight. Lower the seatto where your knees are slightly higher than your hips. When you turn, turn your entire body.

* When driving, sit up straight and move your seat forward. Don't lean forward to reach the controls as this places stress on the back. You may use a pillow to support the lower back if driving for long distances.

* When you find that you have to stand for long periods of time, rest one foot on a low stool to relieve pressure on your lower back. Then every five to ten minutes, switch the foot you are resting on the stool.

* Maintain good posture while standing. Keep your ears, shoulders and hips in a straight line, while you hold your head up and with your stomach in.

* Try a few visualizations to relieve the stress on your neck and back. As you stand or sit allow your muscles to relax in your neck so that you feel as if the top of your head floats up toward the ceiling. You will feel a sense of ease as you allow your head to rest on top of your spinal column. Close your eyes as you do this and let your mind's eye see your head floating on top of your shoulders and all compression is removed from your spine.

* As you are walking again allow the neck to relax so that your muscles give the sensation of releasing your head to float on your shoulders. Allow your spine to move upwards toward the floating head as you move your legs forward. Imagine that your spine is stretching upwards as you do this and relieving any compression.

* As you walk, visualize your entire spine. Is the neck portion of your spine protruding forward, or your shoulders? Is the pelvis moving forward or the ribs? Common walking posture mistakes are leaning forward, leaning back, and failing to keep the head up and eyes forward. Visualize your spine and as you do allow the spine to go straight as you walk.

* Focus on the things you are doing to help relax rather than wondering if when you finish is going to help. Allow yourself to float and stretch while not forcing it as you are doing these steps.

* Sleeping on your side with your knees bent is best. You may need to put a pillow under your head to support your neck as well as putting a pillow between your knees.

* If you are a back sleeper you will need to put a pillow under your knees and a small pillow under the lower part of your back.

* Back problems can sometimes be relieved by using a firmer mattress. If your mattress is too soft you can remedy this by placing a plywood board about 1/2 inches thick under the mattress to make it firmer.

Solve Your Arm Sleep Problems

!±8± Solve Your Arm Sleep Problems

Have you ever woken up in the morning for an unpleasant tingling in body parts? Poor sleep is widespread. Occur when a person wakes up and realizes that one of their body parts feel numb and motionless. What is happening? What causes the arm to sleep?

A little sleep, then this strange tingling sensation is not unusual, but it is unpleasant. It 's frustrating to wake up in the middle of the night, roll, and realize you can not move one of your arms. The ickysensation gets stronger as your body part "wakes up".

Arm sleep usually occurs after you've been sleeping on your arm for a long time. It is especially common in people who sleep on their sides or people who fold their arms behind their head and then fall asleep. Since your arm was squeezed so tightly for such a long time, the pressure makes it hard for your brain to send impulses. It as if your brain has temporarily lost communication with that body part.

During Arm sleep, arteries can also be squeezed tightly. This means no nutrients are making their way to those body cells. This makes the cells behave oddly. What does this mean for you? It means you experience unpleasant sensations like Arm sleep. This lapse in impulses causes your arm not to operate properly. The numbness, tingling, and odd sensation are your arm's way of telling you that it's a bit out of sorts.

Arm sleep all boils down to the issue of an interruption of transmission between your brain and your arm. Nerve cells may not properly be sending impulses. You may feel odd, but it really poses no danger unless circulation is cut off for a very long extended period of time. The feelings associated with Arm sleep are simply a good cue that it's time to turn over and go to seep in another position.

When you experience arm sleep and your arm " wakes up ", you usually tingle first then feel a burning sensation before you revert to normal. This is because your nerve fibers are returning back to normal. Sometimes, it takes a little time.

One thing you can do to possibly ward off Arm sleep is to invest in a side sleeper pillow. If you sleep on your arm, you're always going to be a candidate for Arm sleep. This is because when we sleep on our sides, our shoulders and arms always seem to get in the way. A side sleeper pillow compensates for your body parts, allowing for proper body alignment when you sleep.

Do You Need a Baby Cot Bed?

!±8± Do You Need a Baby Cot Bed?

Whether you intend to have your baby in the same room as you or in a separate room, a baby cot or baby cot bed is an investment you have to consider, even if you intend to cosleep.

A baby cot bed is a cot which is much wider and longer. The reason it is larger is because the cot bed has the ability to convert from a cot to a toddler bed. Some cot beds even have the ability to convert to chairs or a sofa once your child has outgrown the toddler bed. This can be a great investment as you will save money and will be able to get the most out of the furniture you have bought.

Many of them also come with drop sides and different cot heights, so are still as flexible as a standard cot. It can also be a useful way to bridge the cap between a crib and a adult bed, making transition a lot smoother.

If you have decided that you do not want to cosleep or have your child in the same room as you then a baby cot bed is a must have. It will save you money, time and energy as you will not have to search about for a bed once your child has outgrown the cot.

If you have decided to cosleep you may want to consider a baby cot bed only because there are versions for co-sleeping. They are designed to fit snugly against the side of your bed. However, this doesn't necessarily mean you need one. Many parents have a large enough bed to fit them in and their baby, without any need for another bed. Some parents have low beds or place their mattress on the floor to make things as safe as possible. So by not buying a co-sleeper you will save even more money, however it all depends on how much room you have and your specific needs.

Although many think that a cot is an essential piece of baby equipment, it isn't. If you have an attachment parenting style philosophy or intend to co-sleep then it isn't really necessary to buy one, but if you don't and do not intend to have your baby close by, then this type of furniture can save you a lot of money and is a essential piece of baby equipment. Think carefully though before you buy and whether this is essential to you.
